When can I take a functional skills exams?
Unlike GCSE exams, functional skills exams can be taken all year round, meaning that you are not restricted to only sitting your exam in the summer or in autumn. It offers the flexibility for students to sit their functional skills exam whenever they feel ready to. You will then receive your exam results within 10 working days from sitting your exam, so the short turnaround time makes it more appealing to students.
Can I sit my functional skills exam online?
Yes, you can sit your functional skills maths exam online from the comfort of your own home, with online invigilation, at multiple times throughout the day, including evenings and weekends. This makes the functional skills exam a suitable alternative to a GCSE for all learners.
Can I resit my functional skills exam?
Yes, you can resit your exam multiple times. The number of times you can resit usually depends on how many exams the exam boards have in circulation, and often they change these exams.
What exam boards can I sit with?
There are 2 major exam boards that Pass Functional Skills work with: Open Awards and City & Guilds. Sitting Open Awards exams online is usually a smoother process, but both are Ofqual regulated and accepted universally.
Will my University or employer accept this qualification?
The functional skills maths level 2 exams that are offered by Pass Functional Skills are Ofqual regulated, therefore they are universally accepted by the majority of Universities, employers and apprenticeship providers as a level 2 qualification, which is equivalent to a grade 4, or C.
What is included in level 2 maths?
The functional skills maths Level 2 curriculum is split up into 3 sections: Using Numbers, Common Measures, Shape & Space and Handling Information & Data. There is very little algebra in functional skills maths level 2. The exam is split up into a shorter non-calculator section and a longer calculator section.
