Introduction

When it comes to making a start with revision, it can be hard to know where to begin. We find that one of the best places to start is with a revision guide. They help you to ensure that you are covering the whole curriculum in your revision and guide you through topics. Not only are they useful for their descriptions of each topic but also for the practice questions that help to consolidate the work you’ve covered. Here at Pass My GCSE, we think that the GCSE Maths revision guide from MME is the best out there. It is available for foundation and higher tiers.

GCSE Maths Revision Guide

The MME Maths revision guide covers everything you will need to know for your GCSE maths exam. It’s extensive coverage of the curriculum makes it suitable for all exam boards including AQA, Edexcel, OCR and WJEC. Every topic contains revision sections, worked examples and practice questions. All the topics are categorised by the level, these indicate the level you are working at if you are able to answer these types of questions correctly.

Revision Section

Each topic has an in-depth description of the material, going through what is involved in the topic, the steps of how to answer a question and crucial things to remember when answering a question of this type. This section will tell you key points that you must know to gain marks in the exam. A lot of topics in maths have strict rules to follow, where appropriate you will find these listed in the revision guide with helpful images to aid your understanding.

Example Questions

You will find example questions as part of each topic. They walk you through a question that is inline with what you may be faced with in your exam. All the steps required to answer the question correctly are clearly shown, supported by a description of how it is done.

Practice Questions

Dotted throughout the revision guide you will find practice questions. These allow you to test what you have learnt from the revision and example questions. The practice questions tend to be smaller weighted question to test your knowledge of the basics. Alongside your revision guide you will receive an answer booklet containing solutions for all the practice and exam-style questions. The online version of these can also be found here.

Exam-Style Questions

At the end of each topic, there are exam-style questions which mimic the kinds of questions that you can expect to find in your exam. There is space for you to show your working out, making this not just a revision guide but also a workbook.

Other Ways to Revise

While revision guides are a great way to get your revision started, it is helpful to use other resources in your revision. Some other great ways to study are with flash cards, using past papers and online learning resources. It is particularly important to focus on using active revision techniques which involve answering questions. In other words, it is more beneficial to answer questions than just read long chunks of text. MME have a lots of other resources available for GCSE maths, take a look at those here.
