How does the GCSE Science exam process work?

3 Take your exam
Before your exam, we’ll send you full details of your GCSE Science exam, including the exam time, venue, and what to bring on the day, so you can prepare with confidence. We recommend reviewing the exam regulations in advance to avoid any issues on the day. You’ll attend the exam in person at your assigned centre, sitting it alongside other candidates across the UK.

4 Receive your results
GCSE results are released on a national results day each year, typically falling on the third Thursday in August, when grades are issued across all subjects and exam boards.
As you’re taking GCSE Science as a private candidate, your results will usually be provided directly by your exam centre on this day. It’s important to confirm how your centre issues results, as some require in-person collection, while others send them by email or post.

Can I resit my science GCSE privately?
Yes, you can resit GCSE science with Pass GCSE or MME Exams as a GCSE science private candidate. We will arrange everything for you and book you in at a local exam centre as a GCSE private candidate.
When can I sit a GCSE science private exam?
GCSE science private exams can be sat at two points in the year, with exams in May/June and November.
Since there are only 2 exam periods each year, this gives you lots of time to revise for your GCSE science exam. The Pass GCSE exam & course option would be your best bet to help you prepare for your exam.
Can I retake science GCSE online?
You cannot retake science GCSE online, or any other GCSEs. If you are looking to take your GCSE science exam online, then you will need to take a GCSE equivalent qualification, such as a GCSE Science Equivalency.
Which exam board is your GCSE science exam with?
Our Science GCSE exams are with the Edexcel International GCSE exam board. You can retake your exam as a GCSE science private candidate with this exam board.
Will I need to do any of the practicals?
No, the Edexcel IGCSE specification does not require you to complete any practicals.
Is this the same qualification sat in school?
Yes, this is a GCSE qualification. The only difference is the exam board, schools typically use AQA or Edexcel but our exams are with Edexcel IGCSE, this is because they do not require you to complete any practical elements for the qualification.
What is a Fast-Track GCSE science qualification?
A fast-track GCSE Science qualification with Pass GCSE lets you prepare for and sit your exam in a shorter timeframe than studying at school or college. Many learners complete their qualification in under 12 months, with some achieving it in as little as 6 months or less.
